How do I pay my carer?

The Dependable Hands website is intentionally designed to be user-friendly and intuitive. Payments are securely processed through our online payment system, ensuring the safety of both you and our caregivers.

Do you charge more on bank holidays and weekends?

We inform you if your caregiver’s rates vary on weekends or during bank holidays. Generally, caregivers may charge 50% more than their standard hourly rate on bank holidays. Rest assured, all rates are transparently displayed on your booking confirmation for clarity.

How much is overnight care?

Our overnight rates typically range from £125 per night for a Sleeping Night service to £165 per night for a Waking Night service, although they may vary based on the caregiver and specific circumstances. For personalized guidance and assistance with selecting the right option for you, our customer service team is available to provide support and answer any questions you may have.

How much is live-in care?

Typically, standard Live-in carer rates start from £200 for a 24-hour period or from £900 per week. However, these rates may vary depending on the caregiver’s skills, experience, and the duration of care required.

Unless otherwise agreed, the cost of care covers travel to and from your location at the beginning and end of the assignment. Additionally, caregivers are entitled to their pro-rata rate for days of arrival and departure.

For Live-in carers working more than a few days, a formal break of 2-3 hours is required each day, preferably during daylight hours.

A separate bedroom must be provided for live-in carers, which will be exclusively for their use and regarded as their personal space. Additionally, you are responsible for providing food or a food allowance for your Live-in carer during their stay.

Are there any extra fees?

Carer rates include travel to and from the care recipient, unless otherwise specified. Alongside the care costs, a Dependable Hands Client administration fee of 5% plus VAT applies. Additional fees may arise for short-term bookings, late payment, or early cancellation of bookings.

What do I do if I need to cancel?

We understand that your care requirements may evolve, and you may need the flexibility to adjust your arrangements accordingly. However, it’s essential to consider the workload of your caregiver(s) and ensure they can adequately support you as needed.

While our caregivers strive to accommodate small changes in hours and days, cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the appropriate care costs.

Can i get care if im getting financial support from the NHS?

We offer assistance to individuals covering their own care expenses, as well as to care recipients who receive direct payments from the NHS or Social Services.
